And yet, how invisible the struggle is for those who care for loved ones with dementia or Alzheimer’s. We speak of “aging with dignity,” but often fail to provide the real dignity of support – of shared burdens, of grief that doesn’t need to be hidden behind closed doors.
Dear Friend, I write to you with a heavy heart to share something that has deeply affected me. Yesterday, one of my Franciscan brothers, Franco (not his real name), experienced one of the most painful moments imaginable...His face was pale, as if all the life had drained from him. There was a silence about him that spoke louder than words. You could sense that a part of him had remained in that sterile, unfamiliar room where he’d said goodbye – not to his father exactly, but to the man his father used to be.I wanted to comfort Friar Franco, to offer something that might ease his pain, but I didn’t know what to say or do. Sometimes words feel useless – like trying to hold back the tide with open hands. So I simply stood beside him, hoping my presence, however small, might ease the burden he carried, even just a little. From witnessing what Franco went through, I’ve come to understand that love, in its truest form, is not only in presence, but also in persistence. It is found in hard choices made from compassion, and in tears shed in silence, and in standing by someone when there’s nothing left to say.

The Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University in Lucknow has urged the Medical Council of India that graduation degrees be granted to SC and ST medical students, who have repeatedly failed to clear the final exams. A few of them have been trying since 1996. Gaurav Saigal reports.
Although state medical education minister Lalji Verma said, “I will comment only after going through the documents”, Congress spokesperson Ram Kumar Bhargava said repeated failure of a section of students should be probed. But Samajwadi Party leader Ambika Chaudhary said, “Once they (students from underprivileged sections) get an opportunity, they must be up to the mark to become doctors.” · Get Latest real-time updates on India News, Weather Today and Latest News, with including Mumbai Weather Today on Hindustan Times. Despite advances in the management of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), when associated with heart failure (HF) its prognosis remains ominous. This study assessed the differences in admission and mortality of HF complicating STEMI at admission (HFad) in a middle-income country.
Coronary heart disease continues to be one of the main health problems and is responsible for approximately 40% of deaths from cardiovascular causes.1 This problem is aggravated in low-middle-income countries where mortality from cardiovascular disease has increased 95% in the past decade.2 ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is found within the spectrum of coronary heart disease with a mortality that ranges between 2.5% and 10%, both in developed and developing countries.3, 4, 5, 6 · The incidence of heart failure (HF) associated with acute coronary syndrome is highly variable from 7% to 38% depending on the definitions used for each of these diseases.Despite advances in the management of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), when associated with heart failure (HF) its prognosis remains ominou…Author links open overlay panelCesar Rodrigo Zoni MD a b, Heraldo D'Imperio MD c d, Gerardo Zapata MD b e, Adrián Charask MD d f, Stella M. A driver causes substantial damage by crashing into a house after police try to stop his car.
Police said they had initially tried to stop the car in East Street in the town, before the incident. A 43-year-old man has since been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance, driving without a licence, possession of cannabis, criminal damage to two vehicles and criminal damage to a dwelling.A driver who failed to stop when police tried to pull him over has been charged after crashing into a house and partially destroying the front of the building. The crash happened at about 03:45 GMT on Sunday in The Quadrant, in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.Do you have a story suggestion for Cambridgeshire?
The STEMI criteria missed 38% of acute total LAD occlusions on all serial ECGs. Both expert interpretation and the AI model demonstrated 100% sensitivity on the first ECG for all cases. Despite the lack of STEMI criteria, these cases had similar infarct sizes but were associated with longer DBTs.
Aims: ST-elevation (STE) criteria on the electrocardiogram (ECG) are poorly sensitive for acute coronary occlusion myocardial infarction (ACOMI or OMI). This study evaluates the sensitivity of STE criteria on serial ECGs for total left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery occlusion. Methods and results: This is a retrospective sub-study of the DOMI-ARIGATO case-control study of OMI (808 patients, 265 with OMI). All cases of total (TIMI-0 flow) LAD occlusion were assessed for STE criteria. An OMI ECG expert blindly interpreted all serial ECGs.An AI model (PMCardio Queen of Hearts) was applied to the first available 12-lead ECG. Among the 53 cases of acute LAD OMI with TIMI-0 flow, 20 (38%) did not meet STE myocardial infarction (STEMI) criteria on any pre-angiography ECG; 16/20 had at least two ECGs before angiography. We compared STE criteria with expert interpretation and a validated artificial intelligence (AI) ECG model for diagnosing LAD OMI.

Following the improvements in its treatment, awareness campaigns for the general public, and the wide availability of early reperfusion strategies in the developed countries, the acute mortality for STEMI with prompt reperfusion has declined over time and it is now less than 10%.1 Despite the reduction in short-term mortality rates, the impact of STEMI on morbidity and long-term mortality persists. In particular, STEMI survivors are at increased risk for developing heart failure (HF), a clinical syndrome caused by the inability of the heart to supply blood to the tissues commensurate to their metabolic needs.2,3After survival of the pre-hospital and in-hospital phase, mortality in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) ranges at approximately 1%/y and remains mainly unaffected by conventional pharmacological therapies used for secondary prevention.2-8 However, despite advances in treatment leading to reductions in mortality, hospitalizations for heart failure (HF) are increasing following STEMI.9 The rate for HF hospitalization has been reported to be as high as 30% over the first year following an acute STEMI event10 and 40% present with HF-related impairment in quality-of-life.11More recently, several meta-analyses indicated that limiting reperfusion injury prevents microvascular obstruction and reduces final infarct size, thereby lowering the probability of heart failure events and improving quality of life in AMI survivors. Here, we describe the current strategies to limit reperfusion injury and to improve post-AMI outcomes such as systemic or intracoronary hypothermia, left-ventricular unloading, intracoronary infusion of super-saturated oxygen, intermittent coronary sinus occlusion, and C-reactive protein apheresis.ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) remains a significant source of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Despite advances in treatment leading to a significant reduction in the early complications and in-hospital mortality, a significant proportion of STEMI survivors develop heart failure (HF) at follow-up.

After a couple of days of debugging, the ST-LINK started causing my USB port to go into overcurrent protection. I bought another ST-LINK which I used without issue for a few days then started getting the same issue. I took a look inside the failed debuggers and the 5V rail was a dead short to GND.I'll have to make a simplified version of the schematic as I'm not sure if I'm able to show the full thing, but in essence it's a 5V linear regulator powering a STM8 with a couple of decoupling capacitors and the reset and SWIM data lines going directly to the debug header. Both times the ST-LINK survived around 2 days of continuous use before having the regulator fail dead short.\$\begingroup\$ @user2248702 - Thanks for the update. That eliminates some concerns I had. If the ST-LINKs had ever survived longer than a few days, I would be asking "what changed just before the failures started".What could cause this issue? I contacted ST support but they just advised me I could buy a replacement from their website which wasn't particularly helpful. I've verified the target power supply never gets close to the 5.5V limit of the ST-LINK.
